About VILA VITA

The history of the group

The history of the VILA VITA Hotels began with the first trips that the Deutsche Vermögensberatung insurance company made to Austria in 1980. At the time, Dr Reinfried Pohl, his wife Anneliese and their two sons travelled to Burgenland in Austria with investment consultants and their families on a regular basis. In that process, they laid the cornerstone for the small and fine hotel group, which now encompasses five hotels and a vineyard, in Pannonia. The hotels are popular meeting places not only for investment consultants, however, and they offer the ideal setting for conferences and training programmes.

In 1990, the group opened its first own hotel – VILA VITA Burghotel in Dinklage. In the same year, the Schlosshotel Oberstotzingen also opened at the edge of the Donauried. In 1992, the 5-star beach resort VILA VITA Parc opened in the Algarve in Portugal. It is now a “Leading Hotel of the World”, and the renowned travel magazine “Geo Saison” has named it Europe’s second-best beach resort. In 1993 Dr Pohl purchased Pannonia, where the consultants had spent their first trips together, and opened it as VILA VITA Pannonia. The hotel group has owned its own vineyard, the “Herdade dos Grous” in Alentejo in Portugal since 1997.
In addition to the wine, which has received multiple awards, the estate now raises horses and cattle and produces excellent olive oil. Finally, the hotel VILA VITA Rosenpark opened in Marburg in 2000.

Right from the beginning, Anneliese Pohl took care of the hotels’ furnishings and direction. It is thanks to her that every one of the hotels has its own very personal note, nestles harmoniously into its natural surroundings and was furnished with great attention to detail. They have a friendly atmosphere, so it is no wonder that many guests stay at VILA VITA hotels on a regular basis.

The newest member of VILA VITA Hotels opened in 2011: VILA VITA Anneliese Pohl Seedorf on Plauer See, a lake in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. These facilities are designed for holidays and seminars, and the car-free, natural village offers space for up to 188 guests.

In all, the group has 651 rooms for a maximum of nearly 1,590 guests, and its 960 employees in Germany, Austria and Portugal see to their well-being. The hotel group is managed by Andreas Pohl.
